3rd Dan Promotions

Please join us in congratulating two of our long-time black belts here at Alliance Taekwondo, Tammy Fairbanks and Paige McDaniel, on achieving the rank of 3rd Dan.

Fairbanks and McDaniel have both been with Alliance since its inception, and both initially began training at the Bismarck School of Taekwondo.  Fairbanks is the ranking assistant instructor for the kids program, and McDaniel is an assistant instructor in the adults program.

After several months of preparation, the ladies tested for their third degree black belts on the 9th of March, 2012 at 7:00 PM and successfully completed the testing, which took nearly two hours.   Third degree testing is very demanding, requiring the candidate to be accomplished in advanced empty-hand technique, Hapkido technique, and multiple weapons.  It also requires them to be able to perform under a high degree of pressure.  The ladies broke nearly fifteen boards with hands, feet and weapons, and put out candles in combination.

Testing for 3rd Dan is a privilege and an honor, and many people who begin a journey in the martial arts never get so far.  It requires years of practice and dedication, and comes only after a student has accepted and done well with added responsibility, and has the recommendation of their instructors and Masters.
