Greenquist Academy Family Taekwondo Association

The Greenquist Academy Family Taekwondo Association is the association of schools to which Alliance Taekwondo belongs, which was founded in 1983 by Grandmaster Eric Greenquist, and is still under his direction today.  All schools in the Greenquist Academy are Kukkiwon certified Chang Moo Kwan schools, and are members of the United States Chang Moo Kwan Taekowndo Union (USCTU).

 

Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters)

The Kukkiwon is the official governing body of Taekwondo as estblished by the South Korean government.  All Alliance Taekwondo students are Kukkiwon certified, a certification that is recognized at Kukkiwon associated training halls around the world.  Note that certification is at the instructor’s recommendation.

 

World Taekwondo Federation

The World Taekwondo Federation is the international governing body for sport Taekwondo, and is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  The WTF also acts as a support service in training referees and officials and promoting sport Taekwondo worldwide.

 

Chang Moo Kwan

The Chang Moo Kwan is one  of the original Tae Kwon Do Kwans (clans) formed after World War II.  It is under the direction of 10th Degree Great Grandmaster Soon Bae Kim and President Joong Young Kim.  Alliance Taekwondo is a member school of the Chang Moo Kwan, and sent referees and competitors to participate in the 2006 World Chang Moo Kwan Championships, which was held in Fargo, ND.

In 2012, the United States Chang Moo Kwan Taekwondo Union was authorized by the world Chang Moo Kwan and Grandmaster Eugene Marquart was installed as president with Grandmaster Eric Greenquist acting as vice president.  This officially sanctioned organization now governs all official Chang Moo Kwan events in the midwest United States as well as taking over all of the duties of the International Black Belt Federation.

 

International Black Belt Federation

The International Black Belt Federation (IBBF) was the 3rd largest WTF certified organization in the United States. This organization was founded by 10th Degree Black Belt Great Grandmaster Moo Yong Yun.  Grandmaster Greenquist served as President to the IBBF from 1995  to 2007 and continued to be a strong supporter of this organization.  The IBBF sanctioned numerous Taekwondo tournaments throughout the years and hosted an annual Black Belt summer camp and training with world-renowned martial artists brought in by Great Grandmaster Yun.  The IBBF was retired in 2012 in favor of the United States Chang Moo Kwan Taekwondo Union.
