Alliance Washburn Matures Into Washburn Taekwondo

The Washburn branch of Alliance Taekwondo was originally founded in 2007, with Alliance black belt Charles Smith as head instructor.  Master Charles Smith, a 2nd Dan at the time, successfully ran the school for three years prior to moving away to study at a university.  At that time, Master Devon Waldron, then a 3rd Dan, took over the stewardship of the school, and maintained it for two years.  This September, at the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year and the sixth year that the program in Washburn has been running, the Washburn branch of Alliance Taekwondo will become its own school, Washburn Taekwondo, with Alliance black belt (and now alumnus) Master Ken Sorenson assuming ownership of the school and taking on the responsibilities of head instructor.

Alliance Taekwondo will continue to work closely with Master Sorenson to support Washburn Taekwondo, and wishes him all the best in this exciting new endeavor.

The first Washburn Taekwondo class will be Monday, September 10th at 6:30 PM, in the Memorial Hall in Washburn.  Students should come dressed to train, as the class will be part demo, part open house, and part registration for the upcoming year.
