Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters)

The Kukkiwon is the official governing body of Taekwondo as estblished by the South Korean government.  All Alliance Taekwondo students are Kukkiwon certified, a certification that is recognized at Kukkiwon associated training halls around the world.  Note that certification is at the instructor’s recommendation.

World Taekwondo

World Taekwondo – formerly the World Taekwondo Federation – is the international governing body for sport Taekwondo, and is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  WT also acts as a support service in training referees and officials and promoting sport Taekwondo worldwide.

Chang Moo Kwan

The Chang Moo Kwan is one  of the original Tae Kwon Do Kwans (clans) formed after World War II.  It is under the direction of President Joong Young Kim. Venerable figures in the Chang Moo Kwan include late 10th Degree Great Grandmaster Soon Bae Kim, and our own Great Grandmaster Yun Moo Young.  Alliance Taekwondo is a member school of the Chang Moo Kwan, and sent referees and competitors to participate in the 2006 World Chang Moo Kwan Championships, which was held in Fargo, ND. In 2026, Alliance also fielded competitors in the 80th Anniversary Chang Moo Kwan Championships in Korea.

Baekryoung Kwan

The Baekryoung Kwan is a premier school of Hapkido out of Seoul, South Korea, run by Grand Master Sang Ki Lee. It is a member of the Korea Hapkido Association (대한합기도협회 – Daehan Hapkido Hyeobhoe). The Baekryoung Kwan is a hub for high level Hapkido training and examination; for over twenty years, serious martial artists have been traveling internationally to train and test in the Baekryongkwan curriculum and secure internationally recognized KHA blackbelt certifications.

Greenquist Academy Family Taekwondo Association

The Greenquist Academy Family Taekwondo Association is the association of schools to which Alliance Taekwondo belongs, which was founded in 1983 by Grandmaster Eric Greenquist, and is still under his direction today. This association of schools works together to create a network of support and experience for the benefit of all of the schools and students in the association. All schools in the Greenquist Association are operated by Kukkiwon and Chang Moo Kwan certified instructors.

International Black Belt Federation

The International Black Belt Federation (IBBF) was the 3rd largest WTF certified organization in the United States. This organization was founded by 10th Degree Black Belt Great Grandmaster Moo Yong Yun.  Grandmaster Greenquist served as President to the IBBF from 1995  to 2007 and continued to be a strong supporter of this organization.  The IBBF sanctioned numerous Taekwondo tournaments throughout the years and hosted an annual Black Belt summer camp and training with world-renowned martial artists brought in by Great Grandmaster Yun.  The IBBF was retired in 2012 in favor of the United States Chang Moo Kwan Taekwondo Union.
